Meet the BHF Trustees
Our Trustees represent professional backgrounds across all aspects of equine breeding and development, from research to production of world-class equine athletes. Together they have the diverse skills-sets and experience to drive forward our mission to promote “Better Beginnings” for horses, improving their breeding, youngstock training and development for ongoing sustainable well being, by seeking and sharing evidence based best practice.
Dr Jan Birch
Co-ChairDr. Jan Birch completed her PhD in Veterinary Physiology at the University of Cambridge, as an Animal Health Trust scholar. Her specialist research interests are in reproduction, lactation, metabolic stress and growth.
Yogi Breisner MBE
Co-ChairYogi has many accolades to his name, not least that during his 17 years as the British Eventing Team Performance Manager, he led the team to four successive Olympic team medals as well as five European team titles.
Edward Matson
Vice ChairEdward Matson is the Managing Partner at Twemlows Stud Farm. Edward's lifetime involvement in breeding makes him invaluable as a trustee of the British Horse Foundation
Marian Eydmann
SecretaryMarian has ridden and been involved with horses most of her life and has always had a very keen interest in breeding and bloodlines.
Richard Davison
TrusteeRichard is a four-time Olympian and a World and European team medalist.
Simon Cooper
TreasurerSimon has worked in the UK, Hong Kong and New Zealand in administration, corporate governance and communication roles at a senior level, predominantly within Thoroughbred horseracing-related businesses.
Rebecca Keating
TrusteeShe has been a resident veterinarian at Twemlows Stud Farm, one of the largest sport horse studs in the UK, for 6 years.
Ben Benson
TrusteeBen was one of the lead farriers at the London 2012 Olympic Games and again at Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
Alice Holborow
TrusteeAlice has a background in both the small animal & equine veterinary industry and is now managing the equine team at Agria.
