Dr. Emily Birch

Emily brings a lifelong passion for horses and a professional background in graphic design, visual communication and freelance marketing to her role with the Foundation.

Having started riding at just 18 months old, Emily grew up through the Pony Club and has spent much of her life riding, developing and competing young horses and ponies. She has competed nationally in dressage with her own young horses and continues to be actively involved in the equestrian community.

Emily currently shares her life with two KWPN horses: Revy, a six-year-old home-bred gelding, and Jupiter, a 13-year-old who has retired from competition and is now enjoying a new lease of life as a hacking horse.

Her first-hand experience of breeding, producing and developing horses has given Emily a strong personal interest in improving welfare and ethical practice within the sport. Through her role, she combines this understanding with her creative and communications expertise from her professional background in architecture, design and effective dissemination to help the Foundation share its work, engage its community and champion a better future for horses.
