Claire Shand

Claire Shand is Marketing Director and SQP at Westgate Labs, an award-winning veterinary laboratory specialising in equine parasite control. Since 1999, Westgate has supported horse owners, vets and professionals to use diagnostic testing for targeted worming and to slow resistance to medicines.

In 2025, it became the UK’s first laboratory to offer large redworm culturing commercially. Claire bridges science and practice, translating complex information into practical guidance. Passionate about sustainability, she leads CANTER’s Communications Subgroup, serves on its Steering Group and was named Equine SQP of the Year in 2023.
