Prof. Chris Proudman

Chris Proudman has worked in equine veterinary science for 38 years. Formerly Head of the new Vet School at the University of Surrey, he currently leads the Horse Microbiome Research Group which is delivering a portfolio of racehorse and equine health research projects. His current research focus is understanding the role of the microbiome in racehorse health and disease.

Chris has worked extensively with the UK racing industry as a racecourse veterinary surgeon and a former member of the HBLB Veterinary Advisory Committee. He is currently a member of the Aintree Racecourse Committee and Jockey Club Racecourses’ Horse Welfare Group.
