Emma Short

Emma graduated from Writtle College, Essex, in 2002 with a BSc (Hons) in Equine Science. Her dissertation, conducted at the Animal Health Trust, examined ventilation during exercise in horses wearing face masks and was subsequently published in the Journal of Equine and Comparative Exercise Physiology.

With more than 23 years of experience in the equine nutrition sector, Emma has established herself as a specialist within the industry. She has worked for a leading feed manufacturer, providing expert nutritional and dietary advice across a broad range of equestrian disciplines. Her client base includes leisure riders, elite performance yards, breeders, veterinary practices, and other equine professionals. She has expertise in developing bespoke feeding programmes for large establishments and for complex clinical cases.

Emma has a strong interest in applied and clinical nutrition and has observed considerable developments in the field throughout her career. She regularly attends national and international health and nutrition conferences to stay abreast of emerging research, ensuring her advice continues to support both equine welfare and performance.

Alongside her consultancy work, Emma contributes articles to leading equine publications and provides technical support to sales and marketing teams. She is also actively involved in education, delivering training sessions, webinars, and lectures to students, horse owners, retailers, veterinary practices, and industry professionals.
