Michael Bishop

Michael joined RDA as Chief Executive in 2024, bringing experience across the private, voluntary and public sectors.

His passion for horses began in childhood in London, where he helped at local stables in exchange for rides. This sparked his understanding of horses’ positive impact on wellbeing, health and confidence. At RDA, he works to widen access, particularly for people with diverse needs and fewer opportunities. An amateur event rider,

Michael previously led strategy at Historic England and now holds trustee and leadership roles across youth, racing and equine-assisted services.
